At the Movenpick Hotel in Petra, Jordan, we experienced “Chocolate Hour” for the first time. I’d read about it before arriving but admit to assuming we’d never be at the hotel at the appointed magical hour. Lucky for us, we attended the Chocolate festivities not once, but twice, served from 4 pm to 5 pm daily.
Located in the Al Multaqa Lobby Lounge just outside the Al Saraya Restaurant where we had all our buffet meals, it’s a comfortable place to sit with tables and chairs and a gorgeous three-story chandelier hanging from above, with a feature piece above it.
Between the fixtures, inlaid marble, burbling fountain, and the furniture, you may forget to look for the chocolate but look for the chef in his toque blanche, warming up the chocolate fountains and artfully arranging the delicacies he’ll be dipping into chocolate for your mid-afternoon pick-me-up. After all, dinner is still several hours away.
