Chesapeake Virginia Highlights Great Bridge Bridge Lock Opens for Boat Traffic

Chesapeake, Virginia, remains a destination that lingers in your heart long after your visit, its charm and character etched into your memory like a favorite chapter from a beloved book. Whether you’re a history buff, a foodie, or someone looking for a serene escape, Chesapeake offers something that resonates with everyone. I spent two unforgettable days exploring this vibrant city, and I’m already planning my return. Here’s why Chesapeake, VA, will capture your heart and keep you coming back for more.

Historic Greenbrier Farms Tour of the Garden Plants

Historic Greenbrier Farms
We kicked off our adventure with a late lunch at Historic Greenbrier Farms, where outdoor fun meets farm-fresh charm. Whether you’re picking strawberries in the spring, getting lost in a pumpkin patch come fall, or enjoying visits from Santa and the Easter Bunny, there’s always something happening here. The farm also makes a stunning backdrop for weddings and other events, so it’s a year-round destination for both locals and visitors alike. And if you’re in need of luscious outdoor plants or statuary, this is the place to go. It’s a wonderful location to spend a leisurely afternoon—you might just find yourself wishing you had a farm of your own!

Chesapeake Virginia Highlights The Hive Farm Bar & Grill

Our gastronomic trail began at The Hive, a charming farm-to-table establishment that’s all about fresh flavors in a relaxed, natural setting. Set on a picturesque 3-acre estate, this mostly outdoor venue is the perfect spot for lunch under a sprawling oak tree. The world-class chef’s special blueberry BBQ sauce was a hit, but it was the Jive Fries that stole the show. If you leave without a bag full of their signature seasonings from the open-air store, you’ll be kicking yourself all the way home.
