A Culinary Expedition Through Surrey, BC: Unveiling a Foodie’s Paradise

Explore Surrey, BC, a flourishing culinary gem just outside Vancouver, one of Canada’s largest cities, where a world of exquisite flavors awaits passionate food enthusiasts and intrepid travelers.

As I embarked on this delectable adventure during my pre-cruise press trip with the International Food, Wine, and Travel Writers Association, I couldn’t wait to dive into the restaurants in Surrey British Columbia, sampling everything from authentic Mexican tacos and Nepalese momos to the rich and flavorful dishes at Dominion Bar and Kitchen – a tantalizing glimpse of the epicurean delights Surrey has to offer.

A Tapestry of Flavors located at the heart of Surrey within the Civic Hotel, Dominion Bar + Kitchen beckons you with a picturesque view of Civic Plaza, a lively outdoor community hub.

Here, the city’s cultural diversity is celebrated through an innovative “New Canadian” menu that seamlessly weaves together the culinary influences of various cultures.

With a focus on locally sourced ingredients, signature cocktails, British Columbian wines, and craft beer, Dominion Bar + Kitchen is a true reflection of Surrey’s beauty in diversity.

During our stay at the Civic Hotel, breakfast was a delightful perk, graciously included as part of our stay due to my Marriott Loyalty privileges. Entering the restaurant from the lobby, the hostess invited us to help ourselves and choose a seat.

Its spacious bar area adorned with an array of chafing dishes and tempting cold food offerings to choose from. For those craving warmth, there was sizzling bacon, fluffy pancakes, and comforting oatmeal.

The sautéed mushrooms added a touch of earthy elegance to the morning spread. Other mornings, they offered roasted tomatoes or sausage patties.

They were kind enough to make unseasoned potatoes for me as their seasoning was just a tad spicy for my early morning palate.

On the cooler side, we found a refreshing selection of pineapple, cantaloupe, and honeydew – a fruity trio that brought a burst of freshness to our plates.
