Following the weather delay caused by Hurricane Ian, Universal Orlando re-opened to continue Halloween Horror Nights which my family attended on 2 October 2022.

We’d had the good fortune to attend Universal Studios Orlando during daylight hours just prior to the Hurricane so had seen many of the festive Halloween builds – huts and straw bales – new food and restaurant venues – scaffolding with decorations – knowing we were going to enjoy them with the added atmosphere of a dark night and perhaps even a crescent moon.

The experience did not disappoint. You know those nights when you’re just tired? You want to stay home in front of the TV and veg out? It was one of those nights here, exhausted after restless attempts at sleep during the hurricane and then working to clear tree branches and debris for friends and strangers alike.

But we knew it was our only chance to go (they’re not open Monday or Tuesday) so we grabbed a drink and headed for the parks.

Universal Orlando during these special events does not offer annual season Passholders the typical priority parking or Express Pass system. The ticket itself, one per passholder, is included as a bonus with our annual Pass. So parking in the general area, walking thru, and then finding out that the Express lines were for people that paid an additional amount was disappointing. The Express lines for us started at 11pm. The park was open for Halloween Horror Night from 6 pm to 2 am. The Park closed at 5pm to the general public and re-opens for the festivities each night at 6 pm.
