Riverdance was initially performed as part of the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin while the judges’ ballots were tallied. There was such excitement in it to the 300 million viewers watching worldwide that Michael Flatley expanded Riverdance to a full-length show first seen at the Point Theatre, Dublin with the President of Ireland, Mary Robinson, in attendance. After a sold-out five-week run and record-breaking sales, they had similar experiences in Australia, Canada, and continued around the world.
Twenty-five years later, the Covid-19 pandemic stopped the show for about 18 months but they now return to their summer home, the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin 2.
